Scottish Water News & Industry Insights

Steve Langmead has joined Brightwater as Chairman

Steve has managed a number of large businesses in Scotland including Atos and Capita Scotland, as well as start-ups such as visitscotland.com and currently has investments in seven businesses. Brightwater has achieved over £750,000 worth of annualised contracts since it launched in May 2016 as a licensed provider of commercial water and waste water services in Scotland.

Speaking about the appointment, Brightwater founder Roger Green said: “Steve’s appointment strengthens our management team and reflects how well the business has performed since its launch last year. He has held prominent leadership positions in businesses in Scotland and brings a wealth of expertise with him.

I am delighted to be joining such a dynamic organisation

“He has a successful track record in delivering business growth, commercial innovation and business transformation in both the public and private sector. He excels at creating high performing teams and inspiring people to deliver on challenging business goals. We’re delighted to have secured him as our Chairman and are looking forward to his input and help in growing our business.”

Steve Langmead commented: “I am delighted to be joining such a dynamic organisation, using my business experience to help Scottish companies save on Scottish water and establishing Brightwater as one of Scotland’s leading companies in the water industry.”

Brightwater was set up by entrepreneur Roger Green and digital marketing expert Rich Rankin, to target businesses in sectors such as retail, professional services, tourism and hospitality. The company’s business model is based on delivering cost savings of over £1 million in its first three years through competitive pricing, providing water efficiency advice to encourage businesses to use 10% less water and offering outstanding customer service.

Rich Rankin, Managing Director of Brightwater said: “Every company needs water, our aim at Brightwater is to help our customers reduce their costs, increase water efficiencies and raise awareness of wastage to reduce water consumption.

“Our experience since launching last year has confirmed what our early research indicated, namely that many SMEs are simply not aware of the benefits of switching water supplier, despite the fact that switching other utility suppliers has become more routine. Many of the companies we’ve spoken to – and signed up – are surprised to find how much they can save on their water bills by switching and reducing the amount of water they use overall.”
